Williams promoted to Supervising Accountant at Yarlas, Kaplan, Santilli & Moran

 

Elena Williams, who as a 17 year-old in l994 left her home in a southern city in Russia to follow her dreams, was recently promoted to Supervising Accountant at the Providence accounting firm of Yarlas, Kaplan, Santilli & Moran.
 
Williams, 30, has been serving as a senior staff accountant.  In her new role she is a Certified Public Accountant, and currently studying to earn her designation as a Certified Financial Planner.
 
Williams began working at Yarlas, Kaplan, Santilli & Moran in 2003, while still a student at Rhode Island College.  Before her recent promotion she has served in the positions of staff accountant and senior staff accountant.
 
She was raised in Rostov-on-Don, a city of 1.1 million people, the largest in southern Russia and situated along the Don River.
 
After graduating high school, as a young woman of 17, she wanted to explore opportunities and left Russia for America, leaving her family behind.  She arrived in Providence, where with the help of Jewish Family Services was able to establish a new life in Rhode Island.
 
Her mother and sister would soon follow her to Rhode Island about five years later.
 
Williams worked as a bookkeeper at the East Bay Chamber of Commerce, before joining Yarlas, Kaplan, Santilli & Moran.
 
She is a member of the Rhode Island Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs, and serves as treasurer of the Bristol Soccer Association.
 
Williams and her husband, David, live in Bristol with their two sons, George, 7, and Nicholas, 9.
